Judith Walker Walling

JUDITH WALKER WALLING, 71, of Alvin, Texas passed away on April 10, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Judith, a fifth generation Houstonian, was the middle child of Allene Givens and Lesley Lewis Walker, Jr. She attended Houston public schools, where, in seventh grade, she met Harold Walling. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past June. Since college, Judith and Harold have remained avid fans of The University of Texas. At UT Judith was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. For 35 years she taught mathematics in Dallas, Friendswood, Jakarta, Indonesia, Spring Branch, and Galveston. Her colleagues invariably described her as a caring teacher with a quick wit, a good department chairman, and someone frequently sought after when a social event had to be done with flair and attention to detail. After retirement Judith and Harold moved from Tiki Island to Alvin. Judith once again became active in FIG women’s group, and she and Harold became dedicated members of Friendswood Community Church. Judith’s family was the center of her life. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to Hal Walling of Pattaya, Thailand, and Shannon and Layne Nutt of Kermit, Texas, a passionate and involved grandmother to Lauren and Lindsay Nutt of Kermit, and Kelvin Walling of Monifeth, Scotland and an affectionate sister and aunt to Patricia Walker Hindman of Exeter, New Hampshire and Kathleen Walker Murrell of Pearland, Texas, Paula Miller of Tokyo, Japan and Andrew Murrell of Houston, Texas. She will be dearly missed A celebration of her life will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Friendswood Community Church, The Foundry 3rd Floor, 2821 West Parkwood, Friendswood, Texas 77546 with Rev. John Wise officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Judith’s name to either The University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O.
