Coach Bill Cook Obituary Posted

W0109353-1_20140614[1]Coach Bill Cook passed away on Tuesday, the 10th of June 2014 after a short unexpected stay in the hospital. The youngest son of Mary Elizabith Andersen and Joseph E. Cook, was born in Spindletop, Texas on the 4th of January, 1926. He grew up in south east Houston, and attended Stephen F. Austin High School, where he went on to become head football coach from the late fifties through the sixties. He moved to Westbury High School in the seventies, and later became Assistant Principal at Robert Lee High School until his retirement from HISD. A natural athlete all of his life, he was proud to coach football and of the life long friendships he found there. Later in life, football and fishing took a backseat to golf, which he enjoyed with friends several times a week. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lee Steinhort Cook, daughter Robin Cook Wooten, and grandchildren, Matthew Travis Wooten and Marlena (Ruby) Lee Wooten of California. A visitation will take place on Tuesday June 17 from 1-2 PM in the Chapel of Angels with a Funeral Service immediately following. After the interment a reception will follow.
